Legislature Passes Key Budget Bills, Approves $1.4 B for Student Housing
Thursday, June 30, 2022
Last night, the Legislature passed key bills to implement the final budget agreement negotiated by the Legislature and Governor.
They passed AB 178, the “Budget Bill Junior” that amends the 2022 placeholder budget adopted by the Legislature on June 13. They also passed AB 183, the higher education trailer bill that provides $1.43 billion in FY 2022-23 to support all student housing projects deemed eligible by the Department of Finance, including 12 community college projects worth $542.1 million. This is consistent with CCFC’s budget request to fund all eligible community college student housing construction projects.
